Hi, my name is Jessica. I am the founder of Project Mitahy, a grassroots initiative helping 140 children from an underserved community in South East Madagascar access education and healthcare. I may have started it, but none of it would even be possible without your support.

Since 2024, our goal has remained the same: remove the barriers that prevent children from accessing education and give them the support they need to thrive in school.

What began with helping a small group of students has grown into a community of 140 children receiving support each school year.

This is our 3rd edition. Last school year, we encountered various situations that gave us a better understanding of the children's realities. One that is absolutely necessary if we want the support we provide to actually create a dent.

So, I won't dwell on my story, or why I started this project, but rather why what we do matters. I don't believe in distributing school supplies. It's a great start, but not the goal. I strongly believe true impact lies in long-term commitment and continuity. The goal is to create a support system for the children so they can actually thrive in their educational journeys; this spans everything from school related fees, their health, even their personal struggles, and however else they may need us to show up as we are still getting to fully know them. These last couple years, we learned something new every year, and we adapted our support accordingly.

This year's campaign, the third edition, is For the Freedom to Dream.
Every child deserves the freedom to dream.

Not to worry about whether they'll be able to return to school next year.
Not to wonder if their family can afford school supplies.
Not to have their future determined by circumstances beyond their control.

This campaign exists to help make that possible.

What your support makes possible

This year, we're raising $8,000 CAD to help 140 children thrive in school through access to education and healthcare.

Your donation helps cover essential needs such as:

School registration and tuition
School supplies
Uniforms
Essential healthcare and medical support
Extra educational assistance
Program coordination and follow-up throughout the school year

Every dollar goes toward removing obstacles so children can focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and dreaming.

Looking back

Over the past year, together we were able to:

-Support 140 children throughout the 2025–2026 school year.
-Celebrate 100% of our CEPE candidates passing their national exam.
-Celebrate two students successfully passing the BEPC and beginning high school.
-Funded 21 doctor's visits and the necessary medication, and 1 hospitalization.
-Create a local coordinator position to ensure regular follow-up with families and schools.

We also learned where we need to improve.

This year, 42 students repeated their grade, highlighting the need for stronger academic support and additional tutoring throughout the school year. Four children also left the program after dropping out of school for different reasons.

Those numbers remind us that access to education is only the first step. Helping children succeed once they're there is just as important.
--
Looking ahead

For the 2026–2027 school year, we'll continue supporting the same number of children while strengthening the program.

Our priorities include:

-More regular communication with families and schools
-Increased academic support for students who need it
-Closer follow-up throughout the year
-Better coordination on the ground to respond quickly when challenges arise

Every year teaches us how to build a stronger program.

Why "For the Freedom to Dream"?

A kite can only fly when it's supported.

Education does the same for a child.

It provides the stability, confidence, and opportunity needed to imagine a different future.

This year's campaign is a reminder that every child deserves that freedom.

Join the movement.

Whether you give $10, $50, or $500, you're helping remove barriers for a child who deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream.

Thank you for believing that education changes lives.

Thank you for helping children thrive.

Because every child deserves to.
