On Sunday 15th November, Matt and I will be walking a half-marathon along the Cornish coast, from Harlyn Bay to Newquay, to raise vital funds for my beautiful goddaughter, Leni, who has childhood dementia.

Just days before her second birthday, Leni was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome Type B, an incredibly rare, devastating genetic condition. It's a diagnosis no parent should ever have to hear.

Sanfilippo is a cruel and progressive disease that causes toxic substances to build up in the brain, gradually robbing children of everything they've learnt to do. Without treatment, Leni will slowly lose her ability to talk, walk, play, laugh and eventually even eat. Most children affected by this condition tragically don't survive beyond their early to mid-teens.

Leni is just three years old. She has her whole life ahead of her. And yet time is already running out.

Her wonderful parents, Emily and Angus, are living every parent's worst nightmare. Instead of simply enjoying watching their little girl grow up, they're fighting against the clock to save her life.

But there is hope!!!!!

Promising experimental treatments are on the horizon that could potentially prevent further damage and give Leni the chance of a future she so desperately deserves. The challenge is accessing them in time, and raising the enormous funds needed to make that possible.

Every day matters. Every week matters. And every donation, however small, really could make a difference.

As Leni's godmother, watching two people we love so dearly face something so unimaginably heartbreaking has been devastating. We wish more than anything that we could take this away from them. But what we can do is walk, raise awareness, raise money and help give their beautiful little girl a fighting chance.

So, on 15th November, we'll be putting on our walking boots and taking on 14 miles of the Cornish coastline for Leni.

Fourteen miles might leave us with aching legs and sore feet, but that is nothing compared to the mountain Leni, Emily and Gus are facing. We are walking because Leni deserves to grow up, to go to school, to make friends and to experience all the wonderful things in life that every child deserves.

If you can spare anything at all, please consider donating. And if you're unable to donate, sharing Leni's story is just as important!

All funds raised will go towards supporting Leni's family's campaign to access potentially life-saving treatment and give her the very best chance at a future.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us, and most importantly, for supporting Leni.
