Hi, we are #teamlil and are looking to help our amazingly strong friend Carol and her family.

Carol has been dealing with a very difficult few years and has remained unbelievably strong, supporting her family throughout the whole process, whilst remaining dedicated to her work as a Disability Support Worker, caring for others in need.

Carol’s latest family challenge is her most serious with her 13 yo daughter Lily being diagnosed with High-risk B cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Lily was travelling in the car and began having a seizure, losing control of her body. Once she stopped having the seizure she began to regain consciousness and found herself sitting in vomit.

As this was Lily's first known seizure, she was taken to the hospital where she was admitted and has not yet been able to return home.

During Lily's initial hospital stay, she underwent various testing which included needle work, blood tests, scans, biopsies and surgeries. It was discovered Lily had a large tumor in her neck and it was wrapped around her arteries, limiting blood and oxygen getting to her brain, resulting in the multiple seizures Lily has been experiencing.

It was then discovered after further testing; the tumor had tripled in size within those first 2 weeks Lily was in hospital. It had also metastasized and spread to her small intestine and pancreas.

Lily began an intense chemo treatment plan which has resulted in her losing her hair, growing stomach and mouth sores, loss of muscle mass and reduced movement, loss of appetite resulting in a feeding tube being required and confined to the hospital room to reduce the risk of infection.

Lily has been supported by her mum Carol and stepfather Nathan during this whole time. Carol and Nathan have been taking it in turns to stay with Lily in hospital to ensure she is never on her own (honouring Lily’s request) whilst they have been traveling back and forth between Sydney and the Mid North Coast, then once Lily was transferred to Newcastle, they have continued to travel between Newcastle and the Mid North Coast to also provide care and support to Lily’s younger brother Brax who attends school on the Mid North Coast.

Lily is strong, resilient, but it’s wearing on her health as a whole, both physically and mentally. The journey is early in it’s stages and there is a long road to travel for this whole family.

Your help will assist this family in surviving the many challenges they are yet to face.

Lily will be looking at approximately 6 months in hospital and when she is released at the end of this treatment plan, she will still have a long road ahead of her to regain some kind of normalcy.

She will need to continue doctor appointments, rehabilitation, cancer maintenance treatments, and a lifetime of weakened immunity making her more susceptible to infections.

As a mother, there is nowhere else Carol wants to be except by her children’s side, especially during such a hard time. This has resulted in Carol having to stop work during this period, which has put a significant financial strain on her family.

We are asking that if you have the means to, please find it in your hearts to help support this family who has been through so much heartache. All money raised will help financially support this families every day life whilst they support a 13 yo girl fight for her life!
