Almost exactly 3 years ago today, we began sharing our love of street tacos, craft beer, and great conversation. It had long been a dream of mine to own a restaurant, so when the opportunity arose (and my wife okayed it) I began the journey that brought Tacoholix to downtown Wheeling and street tacos with a local twist to the Ohio Valley. I have been privileged enough to say that I have had the pleasure of living out a dream.
We are a single-room tavern (family friendly) with a food truck as our service kitchen. I am not and do not work with an investor or restauranteur. Like many other underfunded restaurants, we have been bootstrapping since the beginning. This has meant lots of hard work and times of financial uncertainty. But this journey has been worth every step--learning and growing--and creating memories with friends.
Prior to shut downs from the pandemic, we were month-to-month and year-to-year, but we were making it. However, being shut down for two of our three busiest months immediately prior to yearly fees and expenses is something we may not recover from.
With licensing and yearly fees right around the corner and a lack of capital to cover them, we are calling on our social media friends for help. The capital needed is a little less than $6k. The number of people who like our Facebook page is 6,100. So we are asking each person who likes or follows our page to give just $1.33 to keep the dream alive and keep TACOS and BEER in downtown Wheeling. The 33¢ is to cover GoFundMe fees.
This business is a dream brought to reality, and some of the friends and memories we've gained will last a lifetime. Though it's been a challenging road, if we were given the chance to go back in time and do it all again, we would. And with just $1.33, you can help the journey continue.
