Hi, my name is Bernita. I’ve missed 13 years of my children’s and grandchildren’s lives… and I can’t get that time back.

Thirteen years of missed hugs. Missed birthdays. Missed holidays.

Thirteen years of loving them from a distance instead of being there. I’m asking for help to do something that means everything to me—finally making it back home to California to be with my family.

Years ago, I made the decision to move from California to Wisconsin to care for my mom in her final years. She lived to be 97, and being there for her was one of the most important things I’ve ever done. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

But after she passed, I found myself stuck.

The cost of living made it impossible for me to afford moving back on my own. What I thought would be temporary turned into 13 long years away from my children and grandbabies.

And it’s been heartbreaking.

I’ve missed so much of their lives. I’ve missed the little things, the big things, and everything in between. I don’t want to lose any more time.

I just want to come home.

I’m raising funds to cover the basic costs to make this move possible:

Moving truck and gas

Travel expenses

First month’s rent and deposit

Basic essentials to get settled

Every dollar donated goes directly toward getting me back to my family.

If 100 people gave just $20, I’d be that much closer to finally hugging my grandbaby again.
