My name is Aimee and I'm fundraising for my dear friend, Kristy, and her beautiful daughter, 13-year old, Sophia.

Kristy is a single mother who has been ravaged with one horrible event after another. Kristy was diagnosed with cancer and was told she would never be able to have children. Miraculously, she gave birth to her only daughter, Sophia.

At 8 years old, Sophia was diagnosed with Cerebral Cavernous Malformations (CCM). Sophia has been living with a CCM that has caused several bleeds and has affected her ability to walk, her ability to eat, and her eye sight.

Recently, Sophia was showing signs of another bleed and was rushed to Sick Kids. The neurosurgeon said that Sophia needed emergency brain surgery because her CCM had grown so much that it was causing swelling on her brain stem.

Sophia made it through the surgery, and hasn't even fully recovered when they were told she needs another emergency brain surgery as they did not get all of the CCM in the first surgery and she is at an high risk of another bleed, which could cause more debilitating symptoms or death.

Kristy is needing to stay in Toronto to be by Sophia's side during her next surgery and recovery, however, Kristy doesn't have the funds for this stay as she is also disabled from side effects during her fight with cancer.

Kristy and Sophia will be at Sick Kids for at least 4 weeks, then they will need to stay at a rehabilitation center in Toronto for up to 2 months. Kristy is in need of support to cover expenses during Sophia's recovery.
