13 Air Assault Support Regiment will celebrate it's 25th Anniversary and commemorate Operation EAGLES SUMMIT with a 180 kilometre row.
On Wednesday 25th September 2024 13 Air Assault Support Regiment will row the distance travelled (180Km). It was the largest logistical Operation conducted since WW2.
Operation EAGLES SUMMIT was conducted by 16 Air Assault Brigade and NATO partners between 31st August 2008 until 5th September 2008. The Operation came under the command of CO 13 Air Assault Support Regiment and their mission was to move a 220 tonne turbine to Kajaki Dam in Helmand Province restoring power to the Region.
The Convoy consisted of over 100 Vehicles stretching 4km and took 5 days to reach its destination travelling the 180 Kilometres.
The Operation was hailed by NATO as a significant victory.
On the 25th of September 2024 13AASR will field 7 teams of 4 personnel (one team per Sub Unit). They will have a 12 hour time cap to execute and row the 180km, to mark 25 Years since the Regiment was formed.
All Funds will be used to procure a Willys Jeep where it will be placed outside the Regiment Headquarters.
