We are reaching out for support to help an amazing woman and her children. Victoria recently discovered her precious 12 year old son has an aggressive brain tumor that needs immediate surgery and treatment. Lucian was diagnosed with Cortical Dysplasia, a condition that causes grand mal seizures at age 4. Cortical dysplasia is known to cause severe disabilities, and while there have been several hurtles, Lucian has been able to overcome so much (our silver lining). Several months ago Victoria & her children relocated to a new state. They began visits with a new team of doctors to track Lucian’s seizures & neurological care. Recently, out of seemingly nowhere, a concerning bump popped up on Lucien’s head. Lucien’s new neurologist was immediately concerned and the family had to travel to Duke University Hospital over 200 miles away to have it assessed. That is when the tumor was discovered on Lucien’s brain. It is extremely fast growing and aggressive and requires surgery. The surgery to biopsy the tumor and try to remove as much as possible is scheduled for May 10th. His medical team does not even feel that there is time for radiation as the tumor is so aggressive.
Victoria is a single mother, and the sole provider for her 2 children. She is one of the most patient, present and loving parents I have ever met. Her relationship with her children is truly magical to witness. Lucian is an artist through and through, he spends a lot of his free time drawing and making his own comic characters or drawing his favorite characters from games he likes to play. He has such a gentle personality, and is always looking to be empathetic towards others. Our goal is to provide Victoria with some financial relief so that she can focus all of her attention and energy on getting her baby better. She is currently homeschooling her children and traveling over 3 hours each way to one of the best medical facilities in the state. Let’s make this extremely challenging & scary time the tiniest bit easier for her so she can give her baby all she’s got.
