My name is Umaima Sarwana and I'm based in Miami, Florida.
We all have friends and family back home in need of help and support, and especially considering the current economic situation in Pakistan, Im reaching out on behalf of one such family in need.
I am initiating this fundraiser for a little 12-year-old girl named Rozina Sohail. Rozina was born with profound bilateral sensorineural hearing impairment and was declared deaf at birth. As a baby, Rozina was taken to every possible Auditory and Rehabilitation clinic her father could find, in hopes of finding help. Rozina experienced life very differently than any other ordinary toddler would. After multiple efforts, at the age of 6, Rozina underwent surgery and was fitted with a secondhand cochlear implant in her left ear at the Indus Hospital. At the time, friends and family could only save up enough to afford second-hand equipment. 6 years later that equipment has now given up and once again, Rozina is unable to hear, or communicate.
Rozina is in need of a new pair of cochlear implants, her doctor recommended the NIDA Q-90 (Advance Bionic) for someone with her kind of profound hearing disability.
Her parents and family are unable to fund this pivotal need, and so I am reaching out to all of you reading this post. As Charles Dickens once said, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
A child who is deaf misses out on a lot of what life has to offer. She is only 12, and has a long life ahead (God willing). Her surgery for cochlear implants would give her the opportunity to hear again. Your funds are going to go towards the cost of the device, it’s implantation, and any further associated post-operative costs.
