12 year old “Darrielle” shot and paralyzed.
Our family has suffered a major tragedy due to a senseless crime. My son Darrielle Rucker J.R. and myself were victims of a home shooting Saturday night August 01, 2020. After having our dinner, we were in bed watching movies, enjoying ourselves when someone shot at our home. One stray bullet struck my son and as a result he is now paralyzed.
Darrielle is a good kid. He loves sports, particularly basketball and football. He enjoys playing video games with friends and family and loves to dance. He did not deserve this, but unfortunately, we must now live with this tragic event physically and mentally for the rest of our lives.
He is now battling a major spinal injury the doctors initially said he would never walk again but we are prayful and hopeful. My family refuses to accept this outcome for him.
We are praying and asking God to heal and restore his body so that he is able to walk and play sports again; and we are humbly asking the community for support and donations. We no longer feel safe in the home and need to relocate and replace all the damaged furniture. We are also trying to purchase a wheelchair accessible van. Any and everything helps.
