$12 in memory of Pikelet's 12th Gotcha Day Adoptaversary
Donation protected
If you had asked me 13 years ago where would I be?
I can tell you now, it's not here.
13 years ago today, I called up Mina at Big Dog Rescue and told her over the phone "he is mine!" "I'm adopting Pikelet".
13 years ago, on the 4th of July 2013, I made it official and since then, 12 years in a row now, I have celebrated the adoptaversary of Pikelet's "Dependence Day*, the day he went from foster pup to forever pup.
I cannot tell you how many tears my eyes have cried since the night Pikelet took his last breath. Honestly, my eyes should be dry by now and yet, floods of tears roll down my face knowing I'll never have him in my arms again.
Not just a dog, Pikelet became my everything. He changed my life.
Life of Pikelet was founded on July 5th 2013 and since that very day, I have continued to rescue, foster, adopt, rehome, volunteer, fundraise, donate and most importantly, advocate.
I feel I have done all of this in his name. If it weren't for my beautiful, most handsome, rescued red English staffy, I'm not sure I would have been so fortunate to have been apart of thousands of lives that came through my home, across your screen, and off into the world.
This fundraiser is not for Pikelet, rather, it's in his name.
Today we celebrate the 12th anniversary of Pikelet Butterwiggle's adoption. The once stray, pound pup, death row survivor, foster pup to rescue royalty. The king of the underdog.
Our goal is $12,000. $12 a donation x 1000 should get us there.
$12,000 would help the name-sake rescue "Life of Pikelet Rescue" immensely.
And while the days of yesteryear where I could aim higher and try for $120,000 (12,000 ppl would need to donate) and that easily be met... I think Pikey himself would be pretty happy with current goal.
I'm not quite sure how I'll get through this day, I've been dreading it. The first Gotcha Day without my best boy, no drive through Macca's for his good-boy Cheeseburger, no balloons, no cuddles. Just memories that I cherish and thank myself for being so lucky.
Not just a dog xx
