I've lost family to suicide.
Some of the closest people to me fight depression and mental health issues every single day.
This is for them. And for anyone who feels like they can't keep going.
My name is Samson, I'm an endurance athlete from Perth, and on 3rd of October I'm doing 12 HOURS straight on a StairMaster to raise money for 20Talk.
Why stairs? Because it's brutal. There's no finish line getting closer, no scenery change, no downhill. It's just you, your thoughts, and the next step. You have to negotiate with yourself every minute to stay on.
That's what a tough mental health day feels like. And I want to sit in that discomfort voluntarily — because I know there are people who live in it without a choice.
If doing some crazy shit that hurts means I can get support to people who desperately need it, then I will do it. All day. No question.
I'm partnering with 20Talk — a Perth-based youth mental health charity. They support young Aussies aged 18-30 with practical tools and skills to maintain their mental health.
100% of funds raised here go directly to 20Talk to fund:
• Free Mental Health Maintenance workshops for young people
• Practical, evidence-based prevention tools and journals
• Programs that normalise the conversation around mental health
