Bill was reduced from $119k to $13k. But if not paid in full in asap he will owe the full $119k and be sent to collections!!

My dad (RIP) had a few really good friends. Don Jose was one of them. Don Jose is a good and hardworking man. Our family has been able to depend on his help over the years. We are so grateful to him and our family loves him very much. 

Recently, he was seriously hurt when he fell off a roof in an accident at work that left him WITHOUT health insurance. 

During the time between his employer health plan coverage expired and his Medi-Cal benefits started he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer!!! (The news came after his 5 year anniversary of quitting smoking). His bills racked up to over $118,000!!!!!

Don Jose had life saving procedures performed by WONDERFUL doctors at Olive View Hospital in Sylmar. He was hospitalized for 7 days. 

If his emergency surgery would have been 2 WEEKS LATER he would not be dealing with this right now.

This is the BS, criminal and cruel Healthcare policy that we have in our country.  

THE GOOD NEWS, after working with the hospital's billing department, he was able to have the cost brought down to $12,240 (from over $118,000!!).

THE BAD NEWS, the hospital is NOT able to set up a payment plan and expects the bill to be PAID IN FULL immediately. If not, it will be sent to collections and he will be responsible for the entire bill of almost $120,000!!

Don Jose is a senior citizen, he is sick, disabled and waiting to hear back on his current health status. Don Jose is still recovering from his severe fall injuries and Lung Cancer. He is not in any shape or condition to be able to get all this money together. 

He can't pay the $12,240.

He is most definitely not able to pay $119,000+.

This just doesn't make any sense.  

But we really don't have time to make sense of this. We have to do everything we can to help Don Jose and keep him from financial ruin because he got sick.

Mi papá (RIP) tenía algunos muy buenos amigos. Don José fue uno de ellos. Don José es un hombre bueno y trabajador. Nuestra familia ha podido depender de su ayuda a lo largo de los años. Le estamos muy agradecidos y nuestra familia lo ama mucho.

Recientemente, resultó gravemente herido al caerse de un techo en un accidente de trabajo que lo dejó SIN seguro médico.

Durante el tiempo que transcurrió entre la expiración de la cobertura del plan de salud de su empleador y el comienzo de sus beneficios de Medi-Cal, se le diagnosticó cáncer de pulmón. (La noticia llegó después de su quinto aniversario de dejar de fumar). ¡¡¡¡¡Sus facturas ascendieron a más de $ 118,000 !!!!!

Don José tuvo procedimientos para salvarle la vida realizados por MARAVILLOSOS médicos en el Hospital Olive View en Sylmar. Estuvo hospitalizado durante 7 días.

Si su cirugía de emergencia hubiera sido 2 SEMANAS DESPUÉS, no estaría lidiando con esto en este momento.

Esta es la BS, política de salud criminal y cruel que tenemos en nuestro país.

LAS BUENAS NOTICIAS, después de trabajar con el departamento de facturación del hospital, pudo reducir el costo a $ 12,240 (¡de más de $ 118,000!).

LAS MALAS NOTICIAS, el hospital NO puede establecer un plan de pago y espera que la factura se pague por completo de inmediato. Si no, se enviará a cobranzas y él será responsable de la factura completa de casi $ 120,000 !!

Don José es un ciudadano de la tercera edad, está enfermo, discapacitado y espera recibir noticias sobre su estado de salud actual. Don José todavía se está recuperando de sus graves lesiones por caídas y cáncer de pulmón. No está en ninguna forma o condición para poder juntar todo este dinero.

No puede pagar los $ 12,240.

Definitivamente no puede pagar $ 118,000 +.

Esto simplemente no tiene ningún sentido.

Pero realmente no tenemos tiempo para darle sentido a esto. Tenemos que hacer todo lo posible para ayudar a Don José y evitar que se arruine económicamente porque se enfermó.
