SHORT FILM | SCI-FI | ROMANCE | DARK COMEDY
Black Mirror meets Her. A Hundred and Fifteen Times Yes is a near-future sci-fi romance about a lonely man who turns to Eterna Luv, a service where love can be bought and replayed on demand. But when the system glitches, he’s forced to confront the line between illusion and true connection.
The script was shortlisted for the prestigious YARNS competition so we know its got potential. Now we need your help to bring it to the big screen and film festivals worldwide.
THE STORY
Martin, lonely and anxious, finds solace in Eterna Luv, a futuristic company selling flawless love simulations through hyper-realistic AR. He replays the same cherished moment: a flawless proposal from the perfect partner, James. It is the epitome of romance until a GLITCH. All turns to black. Martin wakes in the real world, a far lonelier one.
At Eterna Luv’s sleek headquarters, he tops up his credit and meets Jess, a sharp-witted receptionist raised in the age of love on demand. She tempts him with upgrades that push the boundaries of fantasy, leaving Martin unsettled.
Back home, Martin crosses paths with James, in reality, not the flawless lover of his dreams but someone entirely different. As glitches multiply, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur, forcing Martin and the audience to question what is real and what it truly means to love.
THE CHARACTERS
Martin struggles to connect. An introvert battling anxiety, he feels out of place and unseen. When technology offers love without risk, he takes it, not out of delusion, but quiet desperation.
James is the perfect partner: handsome, polished, untouchable. He’s everything Martin longs for, yet perfection is only an illusion, and illusions always crack when you look too closely.
Jess is a true native of the new world, raised on algorithms, affirmation, and artificial affection. She’s never known intimacy without a screen, and doesn’t feel the need to. For Jess, simulation isn’t a substitute, it’s the real deal.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES
This story was born from grief. I lost my mother at the age of 12, and ever since I’ve dreamt of being in the same room with her again, reliving cherished memories, even for a moment.
From there, the idea grew: What if technology could not only console us through loss, but also protect us from rejection? Console our loneliness? What if it could create ideal and ever-lasting relationships to satisfy our need for love and connection?
With this film, I want audiences to ask themselves:
- If technology helps someone like Martin sleep at night and feel less alone, is that such a bad thing?
- But in making life so convenient and pain-free, are we losing something essential?
- Are we dehumanising ourselves by outsourcing our emotional lives to machines?
