10K swim in honour of mum
In October 2023 , I lost the most important woman in my life, my mother. She was always one of the biggest supporter for my swimming journey since I was 8 whether that be dropping me off to train in the mornings/evenings or sitting for hours just to watch me race for a few minutes. Ever since I lost my mum swimming was never the same as it once was which is why I left. My mum was always there to see my achievements in the pool from racing at nationals to swim camps over in Dubai. In college I have been given the opportunity to do an EPQ where I have chosen to raise money for a charity whilst doing something I enjoy to honour my mother. This is why I am completing a 10k swim at the end of January, which is the equivalent of running a marathon. Over the next few months I will be training in both the pool and gym to prepare for this event to do my best. I have chosen the East Anglian air ambulance to be the charity where my donations go to because they are the services that arrived to try and save her, I will forever be thankful for their efforts.
The East Anglian air ambulance are an emergency department who offer service 24/7. They have advanced skills and equipment to help save patients in medical emergencies from road collisions to cardiac arrest. They are a charity that work completely independently from the NHS and rely mostly on donations and community support. They also help to educate and raise awareness by helping to train the community with life saving skills by running CPR and defibrillator training for free.
Mum, I know your watching and I hope this makes you proud to see your little girl swimming again. Loving and missing you always xxx
