Myself, Gillian Pearce, Amy Farmer and Martin Botterill (LAS)  are going to be running/walking/crawling 10K on 18th September 2022 for Hospice in the weald. This is way out of my comfort zone, I am not a runner! 

This charity is very important to myself and my family. In September 2008 my dad, Gary Farmer, was diagnosed with brain cancer (Glioblastoma). He was 38 years old. My dad was only expected to live three months, however he survived a further 7 years and passed away on 25th June 2015 at 45 years old. In the last stages of his life he was treated at The Hospice in the weald. The nurses at the Hospice went above and beyond for him, putting him the biggest room with the best view. Nothing was too much.  The nurses and staff made the whole experience as easy as they could. It was a celebration of life, not his final days.

My dad was a paramedic. At the beginning of his career he was stationed at Deptford ambulance station and then moved to the Bromley complex and worked out Beckenham, Bromley and Forest Hill ambulance stations. My dad was an amazing man who always helped everyone else, and was liked by everyone.

Hospice in the Weald provides care to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers in West Kent and Northern East Sussex. They are there 24 hours a day to help, support and care for patients with an illness where a cure is no longer possible, or where patients will at some stage die from their illness. The care they provide is completely free of charge to their patients, their families and carers. They are not part of the NHS, and they need to raise 7 million pounds every year to fund our services.
