Papa Dick, the $10 Painter lives in Rainer, WA. For the past few decades, he’s painted a painting a day in his wooded little art hut along the Deschutes River. He’s sold 1000’s of paintings that now hang across Washington State and the country. The 83-year-old artist always has a few 100 paintings stored in the pumphouse to sell at shows and local galleries.
Earlier this year, Papa Dick received the devastating news that stage 4 lung cancer is running rampant. While recovering from the first few doses of chemo sickness, his 42-year-old water pump finally gave up the ghost. Fortunately, no paintings were harmed as the water pump went kaput. Unfortunately, the combined bills for both cancer treatment and replacing the pump far exceed an octogenarian artist’s income.
Bills are stacking up as the deductible is $6,000. Chemo sessions are urgently needed to keep the disease at bay.
