On October 16th Emily went into the hospital for bleeding, after being admitted her water broke and she officially went into preterm labor at 28 weeks. While in the hospital they were able to get an ultrasound done to see that their son was breech and had Emily on standby for a c-section if he started to show any signs of distress. The goal was to try and keep him in there as long as possible to allow for Emily to get steroid shots for his lungs and see if they could let him develop in the womb a little while longer. Before entering the hospital they had been seen for "Amniotic Band Syndrome", a fairly uncommon issue seen in pregnancy. It was predicted that their son might have a band wrapped around something as little as a finger or toes, but could also have a band wrapped around a limb. On the night of October 19th doctors were struggling to find their sons heart beat and Emily was rushed into an emergency c-section. Upon him being born doctors saw that their son had an amniotic band wrap around his leg while he was in the womb. There were 2 bone fractures to his leg, with the tissue near his ankle completely exposed. He was rushed to the NICU, placed on oxygen and given a feeding tube. Later in the week doctors put him in special made cast to attempt to heal the bones in his leg and allow for the skin to try and repair itself. Nearly 3 monthly later now they are still waiting patiently for the day the he is cleared to go home, but over the last few months he has shown good progress. He is gaining weight, smiling and his cast seems to be aiding his healing in his leg well.

We all know hospital bills can be very expensive let alone having your baby in the NICU for almost 3 months. If you have the funds to help even just a little bit it would be greatly appreciated.
