WWII Vet returns to Pearl Harbor

Donation protected
Mr. Carl E. Clark, now 100 years old, joined the Navy in 1936 with hopes of becoming an electrician, but faced the racial discrimination of the time which limited African American sailors to working in the mess kitchens or in comparable duties.

He is a WWII and Korean War Navy veteran, a Purple Heart recipient and a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was serving at Kaneohe Naval Air Base during the December 7, 1941 attacks.

He has been invited to attend the 75th anniversary ceremonies and would very much like to make the trip and to be among the 70 or so Survivors who will be unveiling a Wall of Honor comprised of the photos of 1,100 of their comrades who lost their lives during the attack.

He has not been back to Pearl Harbor, Kaneohe Air Base since 1945.

This Thanksgiving and the days that follow, will be the biggest shopping and spending days in the US. Over the next few days will you consider helping us raise money to get Mr. Clark to Pearl Harbor?

The goal: $2,500 by Nov. 30th. Funds will be used for air travel, hotel,  ground transportation.

No contribution is too small. Donations are tax deductible.

Here is a moving segment produce by the CBS Evening News in 2012 about Mr. Clark's unrecognized
actions in WWII and of those unsung black sailors.
