100-Mile Run For Hurricane Ian Relief

Tax deductible
Hello, my friends!

On the 28th of September, the southwest coast of Florida, a region than which this vast and beautiful country, America, can boast of none fairer, balmier, nor more picturesque and lovely, was ravaged by Hurricane Ian.

It made landfall as a devilishly strong Category-Four hurricane, with ferocious winds against which many buildings and homes could offer but scant resistance, and a massive storm surge by which cars, bridges, and entire city blocks were, in the blink of an eye, completely swallowed up.

Millions were left without power and water. Thousands were deprived of their businesses and homes. And, worst of all, an untold number of our fellow countrymen, brothers, sisters, and children of the Almighty Creator succumbed to the elements and lost their lives.

As I was crossing the state in the wake of this immeasurable, if not unprecedented disaster, I thought of ways I might contribute, in some small way, to its relief.

Somewhere between Marco Island and Miami, I was struck by the following venturesome idea: I should RUN the distance separating these two cities, Marco Island to the west, and Miami to the east. To ennoble the undertaking, I thought, I should solicit donations, with which I can then aid the recovery of this precious part of the state.

With your support, my plan is to do just that.

And so, I submit to you, dear friend, a humble request for charity. Sponsor me in my run across the width of Florida, 100 miles from west to east. I hope to raise $5k dollars, of which every last cent will go either to the American Red Cross, or to a reputable local charity by whom the money can be put to best use.

Thank you, in advance, for the generosity with which I hope you’ll receive me.

My name is Daniel Finneran. I am not a professional runner, nor have I ever attempted a distance quite so long. I live in Naples, Florida, one of the cities through which this terrible storm raged. By some good fortune, my house, car, and possessions were spared the terrors of its relentless wind and biblical rain. I will not be the beneficiary of any funds raised. All money raised will go to the relief of this and adjoining cities in Collier and Lee Counties, and the people there who've suffered and lost so much.
