We are four friends – Dan, Bogdan, Igor, and Kostadin – and together we’re taking on an incredible challenge: The Trailwalker Gurkha Challenge. This means on 20th of September we're walking and running 100km (65 miles) non-stop in under 30 hours across the South Downs.

But this isn’t just about distance. For us, it’s about hope, love, and a beautiful little girl named Mia.

Mia is our best friends’ daughter. She’s only 4 months old, but her journey has already been tougher than most of us could ever imagine. At just 1 month old, Mia was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) – a rare, life-limiting genetic condition that weakens her muscles and makes everyday things we take for granted incredibly difficult.

Despite all this, Mia is a fighter. She lights up every room with her smile, and her spirit inspires us every single day. But to give her the best chance at a full and independent life, Mia needs specialised therapies, intensive treatment programs, and adaptive equipment – things the NHS cannot cover. The cost? Around £7,000 every single month. An impossible figure for one family to carry alone.

That’s why we – Dan, Bogdan, Igor and Kostadin – are running.

That’s why we’re pushing through every mile.

That’s why we’re asking for your help.

Our biggest dream – and her family’s biggest dream – is to see Mia one day take her first steps, ride a bike, and experience the little milestones that so many of us never think twice about. By doing this 100km challenge, we want to bring her one step closer to that dream.

Pe 20 septembrie, prietenii mei Dan, Bogdan, Igor și cu mine vom participa la Trailwalker Gurkha Challenge — o provocare de 100 km de mers și alergare non-stop prin South Downs, pe care trebuie să o terminăm în mai puțin de 30 de ore. Facem asta pentru un motiv foarte special: să o sprijinim pe Mia, fetița de 4 luni a celor mai buni prieteni ai noștri.

La doar o lună, Mia a fost diagnosticată cu Atrofie Musculară Spinală (SMA), o boală genetică rară și limitativă, care îi slăbește mușchii și face ca lucrurile de zi cu zi să fie extrem de dificile. În ciuda tuturor provocărilor, Mia este o adevărată luptătoare — zâmbetul ei luminează fiecare încăpere și ne inspiră pe toți.

Familia Miei are nevoie de 7.000 £ în fiecare lună pentru terapiile, tratamentele și echipamentele speciale pe care NHS nu le poate acoperi. Este o povară imposibilă doar pentru ei, așa că noi ne forțăm limitele prin această provocare pentru a-i oferi Miei cea mai bună șansă de a crește puternică și de a atinge etape importante — precum să facă primii pași sau să învețe să meargă pe bicicletă într-o zi.
