Leah/Lauren is a co-dependent Sagittarius approaching a near-40 crisis as a budding Fashion Designer. Introverted yet outgoing, she is the nucleus to her friendship circle. As she becomes involved with a longtime friend, a relationship within the group faces an unforeseen dilemma.

Jordan (Leah’s/Lauren’s close friend) is the definition of chill with her ultra laid back personality. A Cancer, she is a CBD enthusiast and home body always down to “be outside” for friends. An unusually content only child, she has no plans of having kids herself.

Mahogany (Leah’s/Lauren’s close friend) is an individualistic, charismatic Leo and successful LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Engineer Consultant for Bristol Farms and Whole Foods.

*Now Casting* Laurence (Leah’s/Lauren’s sister) is an ultra Independent Corporate & IP Attorney and true Aquarius who is quiet yet observant and is embracing all that comes with being in her late 30s.

Amy (Leah’s/Lauren’s close friend) is hood-classy™ with a hard exterior. A certified Aquarius through and through, she is a licensed nail tech, childhood friend of Sam’s, Liz’s partner, and Jonathan’s fraternal twin.

*Now Casting* Samantha (Leah’s/Lauren’s close friend) is a proud Afro-Latina and career—and love—driven Libra and journalist. Her dog and younger sister, Jamie, keep her on her toes.

*Now Casting* Jamie, Samantha’s baby sister, is a 15-18 year-old Afro-Latina. She is girly yet tomboyish and the most popular girl at school. She loves Chico Sticks candy and collecting VOGUE magazines and Spiderman comics.

*Now Casting* Cielo, nearly-40, Leah's/Lauren's close friend and Jordan's childhood friend. A Fashion Stylist to the stars, Cielo is an ultra feminine woman with pazazz who does not wear her heart on her sleeve.

Dana (Leah’s/Lauren’s close friend from college) is a District Attorney preparing to be a judge. A cigar-smoking, Anita Baker-listening Aquarius with a God-given talent for cooking.

*Now Casting* Bernadette/Sherane (Leah’s/Lauren’s Mom) is a 60-70 year-old African-American who’s signature is long dark or white hair who looks younger than she is. Motherly yet a fortuity.

GiGi (Leah’s/Lauren’s close friend) is a feisty and newly single wine enthusiast and extroverted Leo with one child.

*Now Casting* Taylor is a 21-25 year-old female, New Artist, signed to Honeymoon’s Milk & Honey Records. Originally from Chicago and new to Los Angeles, she is exploring her signature sound. She does not believe in zodiac signs yet believes in holistic wellness.

Honeymoon is a Hyper independent Taurus of a wildcard. An alpha, she is a savvy Founder & CEO of her own record label, Milk & Honey Records, and the A&R Executive and Manager of Taylor, her New Artist.

Brooke (Honeymoon’s Executive Assistant) Direct and efficient, she is a Virgo who is always eating Lindt chocolate as she helps shape New Artists as the A&R/PR Assistant of Honeymoon.

Gary (Leah’s/Lauren’s ex, Jonathan’s business partner) is a decisive and (at times) overly assertive IP Attorney. He is a gallant bachelor of a Sagittarius. He is also Jonathan’s close friend and business partner.

Jonathan (Gary’s business partner) is “the chill one,” also a Sagittarius and IP Attorney like his business partner, Gary, he is bold when necessary yet private. He is Amy’s older—by two minutes—brother/fraternal twin.

Charlene (Leah’s/Lauren’s friend) is always easy going, but don’t test her. She is a Pisces who is emotionally intelligent. A retired professional ballerina, she owns a luxe ballet and dance studio in New York.

*Now Casting* Ming (Leah’s/Lauren’s former manager) is a 40-45 year-old Asian-American who is an Executive Creative Director. A long time friend of Brooke’s, she is a workaholic with two pet cats, Monie and Middle.

Letter from the Creator & Executive Producer

My name is Lauren Nicole Dennis and I am an upcoming Writer, Director, Producer, and Actor born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I grew up in the Adams & Crenshaw district and my first school was Bene Pre-School. As a child, I would sing Disney songs with my friend while on the swings at recess and imagine I was the Disney character I was trying to emulate. As I got older, I learned how to write short stories after one of my elementary school teachers assigned us a writing challenge to teach us math vocabulary and function by turning the key terms into a fictional story to read to the class. My story won and I have had an ardency for writing stories since that day.

As I grew older, I kept writing. By the time I got to my thirties, I had accrued enough life experience in that last decade to make fictional montages loosely inspired by them...

That is when the concepts for '1,000 Tongues' started to trickle into my spirit and the visual elements into my psyche.

Like many of us, sure, I had seen plenty of television shows. But the question was:

Could I write one?

At the time of concepting '1,000 Tongues,' I was heavily into Donald Glover/Childish Gambino's FX hit 'Atlanta.' I was flabbergasted at how brilliantly Donald wrote and his acting was the icing on the cake. LaKeith's character brought something off-beat yet perfectly fitting to the show and Brian's role was "that dude" that you did--and also did not--want to know. 'The L Word' is another show that heavily inspired my whole essence during my 20s. It taught me, in some ways, how to be me.

With this show, my show, '1,000 Tongues,' I am hoping that it gives another 20-something, or 30-something, the confidence and inspiration they need to get through these formative decades.

It is raw.

It is spiritual.

It is pro-authenticity in its most creative form.

It is highly visual.

It is real life for many and I refuse to sugarcoat that in my writing or visual expression of such through this television show.

This fundraiser is specifically for the pilot; however, the series is centered around a group of advanced Millennial (near 40) and Gen X women on various journeys in Los Angeles, California and New York. The main character, Leah/Lauren, is having a nearing-40 crisis as she transitions from one creative career to another. She stays on track with her closely-bonded circle of genuine friends and a quirky confidant as they all attempt to navigate their interpersonal relationships, family, love, and careers.

Initially, my fundraising goal was $1,000,000; however, I have reduced it to $250,000. Not because I do not believe in myself, but because this goal is more reachable. The application to SAG-AFRA has already been submitted and they are awaiting my response to provide proof of funding for this project. With your help, I can and will get this project 100% funded, filmed, and unionized.
