Our beautiful friend's world changed dramatically in May 2020 when she was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer at the age of 48.

Kelly is an inspiration to anyone who knows her. She is an amazing mother to two boys, a hard working, strong wife to Lee, an asset to her community, and the most loyal friend you could ever wish for.
Kelly has started an intensive treatment plan and is absolutely determined to kick cancer's butt. But she needs our help.

Treatment plan
4 rounds of AC chemo once every 3 weeks ( round 3 done ding ding )
12 rounds weekly PACLitaxel
17 rounds three weekly Herceptin
Full mastectomy and full lymph node clearance
Radiation
Ooh and hopefully an add in drug Perjeta!!
Whilst Kelly has been feeling sick over these last few weeks she done heaps of research - knowledge is power.
The UK and US use a drug alongside Kelly's treatment plan called Pertuzumab (Perjeta) for stage 3 locally advanced BC with lymph involvement.
This drug has been found to give an increased chance of the cancer not returning.
With inflammatory it is highly likely a reoccurrence will occur so Kelly needs every chance she can take.
Kelly has sought advice worldwide from experts and her own oncologist is really supportive of Kelly adding this to her treatment regime!
It is described as being used In the neoadjuvant ( pre surgery) setting adding Pertuzumab (Perjeta )almost doubles the pCR rate which is highly statistically and clinically significant, and the effect is consistent between ER+ (me) and ER- subgroups.
In regular breast cancer as a whole, complete neaodjuvant treatment with dual HER2 and anthracycline, creates pCR about 60% of the time.
The IBC (Kelly) population is thought to be 45%.
This is huge!!!
Unfortunately Australia only fund this if you are already stage 4 metastatic (seems stupid) surely prevention is better that merely using it to prolong life at the end?
