100,000 Steps on the Darkest Day of the Year

I am recovering from an addiction which almost cost me my life. Thankfully I eventually shared my problem. Once I did things started in motion to help me. I really felt the power of talking and not keeping it all myself. I wish I had talked sooner, if I had it would have saved so much pain.

Three years ago I planned on doing this challenge. But I kept on postponing it as I knew while I was addicted to Codeine I would not have been well enough to attempt it. But now with Codeine out of my system I feel I'm ready to take it on. Its not going to be easy. 80km is a long distance to walk in one go. I have previously done a 50km walk. At the finish line I could not have done an extra step so I'll have to push hard to complete this challenge.

I want to try and raise some money for the Samaritans. They offer such an important service. They are there to help anyone with whatever they are going through. My biggest realisation when I started my recovery journey was the power of sharing. I used to keep everything myself but I have changed that now. Be it in support groups, family, friends or online. With Christmas approaching it is especially important that people don't feel alone.

My good friends Richie & Steve are joining me for the full challenge. They will be a massive help in me achieving this goal of 100,000 steps on the 21st of December. Anyone who wants to join us at any stage is very welcome.

Closer to the time I'll post on my social media the approx times we will be at during various times in the day.

Thank you,

Mark.
