Well, I'll be damned.
My employer, Amazon, is matching employee donations to the following organizations - selected with the help of Amazon's Black Employee Network (BEN) - that are focused on combating systemic racism through the legal system and expanding education and economic opportunity for Black and African Americans. Employee contributions will be matched 100% up to $10,000 per employee from now until Monday, July 6, 2020.

Year Up
I kind of hate Amazon as a company, but this is crazy.
Matching $10,000 per employee for a company that employs over 500,000 people could add up to a cool $5 billion. This is in addition to the $10 million that Amazon committed to donating to the above 12 organizations.
I know $10,000 is a stretch, especially right now when many people's finances are at their worst, but why not reach for the stars. For a little perspective, I've got a little over 1,000 friends on this platform, so if each of us can manage $10, that'll put us at the $10,000 total.
Many of us have already donated to various organizations. Keep doing that if you can. This is just another option that happens to also make Amazon use its money more responsibly, for at least a moment.
If you want your money to go to a specific organization, as opposed to splitting up the amount across the 12 organizations, shoot me a message or comment on your donation.
Finally, if you know any other Amazon employees, get them to step up their fundraising game.
Let's get that money.
