10,000 Masks for Everyday Heroes

Donation protected
The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed our lives this year and so many brave humans working on the front lines for us now need our help. Our names are Coco and Alyssa; here's how we're helping and how you can help.

Before the virus changed the trajectory of our lives, we had been designing a lingerie line and working with an experienced manufacturer in Vietnam to bring our product line to life. But with the uncertainty of the future, we've decided to put it all on hold.

This week, our manufacturer has freed up their production line, workers and resources to produce cloth masks of 58% Cotton, 37% Polyester and 5% Spandex (mask composition in accordance with Michael Garron Hospital Foundation's homemade mask guidelines ).

We understand that these won't replace the effectiveness of N95 masks, surgical masks, and face shields, but through some research, we've seen that hospital workers have been wearing cloth masks like these over their PPE to increase the longevity of the limited amounts of real masks they still have access to by wearing cloth masks on the outside and laundering them to reuse. This is how desperate times are right now and so many brave, caring, hardworking humans out there need our support.

We are producing these masks at $0.30 USD ($0.45 CAD) per piece and the minimum order quantity is 10,000 masks, hence our very big goal that we need your help to achieve. The complete order has been quoted to us at $3000 USD ($4,234 CAD). **Update: as of Sunday April 05, we've received final estimates of shipping and taxes from the manufacturer and unfortunately the costs are a significantly more steep than we had anticipated. Final cost of each mask after it's landed and in the hands of the people who need it is $1 CAD each. That said, the more money we raise, the more masks we can donate.

We are based in Vancouver, BC so we will be working with CAD for this campaign.

Here's a breakdown of how far your money would go:

1 mask = $1

10 masks = $10

50 masks = $50

100 masks = $100

500 masks = $500

We will distribute the 10,000 masks accordingly:

2,000 for the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation

4,000 for Masks for Docs

4,000 for numerous other smaller clinics, hospitals, and to Canada Post mail carriers that have listed on Masks for Heroes  as needing sewn masks.

^Check back often as we will update exactly how many masks are going where as the weeks go on. We are currently reaching out to these places to find out exactly how many they need so we can help as many people as possible.

Our goal deadline is April 15. We've set a 2 week deadline to try and raise what we need and still get the masks out to the front line workers as soon as possible as the pandemic starts to peak.

We know that times are tough for a lot of people right now but the only way we will get through this is to look out for one another. If you chose to donate with us, we thank you for choosing to help in this way, as we know that there are so many other ways to be of help right now too. We are deeply grateful for whatever you choose to donate, whether that be one mask or 20 or 50 or 100. Please repost and share this link and let's make a difference together.

Love, C&A
