This is Sylvia Tomusange's story. At the beginning of 2020  her and her husband were seemingly living the American dream. They had recently closed on a beautiful home in North Texas where her, her husband, and their 4 kids--including a toddler--would be enjoying the next phase of their lives.

And then Covid-19 hit. And just like the millions of Americans affected, the family began to hunker down and try to deal with everything that would come with the pandemic. They planned on how they could minimize expenses, reduce exposure to others, and try to keep their income stable. Most importantly they leaned on their faith to help get them through these uncertain times.

And then in August of 2020 after months of the family banding together to weather the pandemic storm, Sylvia saw her physician about a lingering cough that just wouldn't seem to go away. A week later,  she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. The cancer has spread to her lungs and they are now in the fight of their lives. The world has turned upside down for the family in an instant. They hope that the care she is now receiving from medical professionals and that their faith that binds them together will see her through the holidays and further on.  

Sylvia wants to be strong for her kids, her husband, and family but with cancer we know that this is the time for her to focus on herself and beating it. To help her we've started this gofundme campaign to raise $10,000 to address the basic family needs like groceries, children's clothes, diapers, school supplies, gas to drive to and from the hospital visits, and other incidentals for the next few months so that Sylvia can put all of her energy on her chemotherapy. 

It would be a blessing to have a few people donate large sums to reach our monetary goal, but the real goal is that 10,000 people donate whatever they can --big or small--and most importantly leave a personal message of hope to show the family that in this time of so much suffering and uncertainty that there are 10,000 people out there who are rooting for, praying for, and supporting her to fight the good fight. The money is important--of course--but people are really what this gofundme is about. So if you're reading this and you can find it in your heart to take a few minutes of your time, please give what you can and leave a message of hope for Sylvia. You will be showing that even when we are all hurting, scared, and not knowing what tomorrow will bring, we can still make a difference to someone who needs our help, our prayers, and support.
