100 Years of Suffrage Campaign

One hundred years ago, on November 6, 1917, the women of the state of New York won the right to vote. In honor of the centennial suffrage celebration, we are raising money to fund our next hundred years of grassroots activism!
We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit, issues-based organization with three purposes: to foster education in citizenship, to promote forums and public discussion of civic reforms; and to support Issue legislation. With your support, we will be able to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in all levels of government. We will work to increase citizens’ understanding of major public policy issues.
Your support will fund such initiatives as:
-More voter registration drives
-Trainings for community groups to run their own voter drives
-Publishing They Represent You, a comprehensive directory with maps of elected officials in New York City, Albany, and Washington, D.C.
-Updating What Makes NYC Run?, a League publication about how New York City government works, including sections on budgeting, contracting, service delivery and land use
LWV runs regular voter registration drives through New York City throughout the year.
