28/07/2026 would have been my nan Julie’s birthday.

In previous years, I’d have been thinking about what to buy her or how we’d celebrate together. This year, is the first one I can’t give her a birthday present, so instead I want to give something back in her memory.

From 1st August, I’ll be taking on my biggest challenge yet: running 5km every day for 30 days, before finishing with 11km on the final day to make it 100 miles during August.

The challenge is in aid of St David’s Hospice, who cared for my nan with such kindness, dignity and compassion. The support they gave her, and our family, is something I’ll never forget, and this is my way of saying thank you while helping them continue supporting other families when they need it most.

Running is something I only started around nine months ago as part of my weight loss journey. What began as a way to improve my health has become a real passion, and it’s helped me achieve things I never thought I’d be capable of. Now I want to use that passion to make a difference.

I know there will be days during this challenge when my legs are tired, the weather isn’t great, or I simply don’t feel like running. But whenever that happens, I’ll remember why I started. Every mile is for my nan, and every donation will help St David’s Hospice continue the incredible work they do.
