100 Mile Race to Help Eric Honkonen Fight Cancer

Hello everyone,

The amount of support I have received for my upcoming 100 miler is overwhelming. In fact, I have received so much of it that it has caused me to brainstorm ways I can spread that energy.

My dear friend Eric Honkonen has come to mind. For those of you who don’t know Eric, he is a wonderful, humble man who has been undergoing treatment for stage 4 esophageal and bone cancer. He also had to undergo emergency surgery for two tumors in his brain in late 2022.

Out of nowhere, his life has been flipped upside down and he has been flooded with medical bills while also not being able to work for the last year and a half.

I am using this race to help him cover the cost of chemotherapy and radiation. Coincidentally, this race comes exactly ten months after I was put into surgery and my battle with testicular cancer began. I personally will be donating a dollar for every mile I run on Saturday, which will hopefully be 100 when all is said and done.

I am aiming for a goal of $2,500 but I would love to go beyond it if possible. Regardless, any amount, however big or small, will be greatly appreciated and every dollar will go straight to Eric.

I strongly believe if we all take a moment to come together we can do great things for him.
