10 Years Teaching: Next Step, Comedy!

The 2025-2026 school year marks my TENTH YEAR of teaching! While the academic system prevents me from achieving the security of tenure without a PhD I can't afford, I'd like to celebrate this milestone by cultivating another interest I've developed (and definitely used in the classroom): comedy!

Over the last year, I've been taking virtual classes through the world-renowned Second City Training Center, and I've had an amazing experience trying new things and building my confidence in a new way. One thing I haven't tried: Improv! What Second City is known for!

I've held off on taking this special class because I wanted to take it in person. Here's where you come in.

I'm hoping to fundraise $1,000 for the class fee, train tickets, and some modest emergency funds so that I can take Improv 1 during the next class session (starts June 23!) at the actual Second City, which would be such a huge honor.

But I'm not one to just take money! Need something copy edited? Help with your resume? A drive to the airport? Something crafted? Calligraphy services? Social media help? Someone to tell off the mean lady at your local gas station?? I'm your girl!

Between political and non-profit commitments, fundraising is part of my DNA, but I've never fundraised for myself, and it feels super cringey. So please help me find ways that we can help each other!
