In August 2009, while vacationing in Wildwood,NJ, I hit my head on a sandbar, broke my neck, and was immediately paralyzed from the chest down. Transported to a trauma unit in Atlantic City, I underwent surgery and was placed on a ventilator. I was removed from the ventilator in February 2010 and have remained ventilator free ever since but remain paralyzed.
There's a constant need for updating and replacing equipment, paying for supplies and other things not covered by insurance and many, many living expenses we take for granted that I'm just no longer able to pay for.
As wonderful as everyone has been to me in the past, I hate to ask, but my funds from prior fundraisers are dwindling. It's been a tough and expensive 10 years. Everyone struggles with their own issues every day, I know, which is why I dislike doing this type of thing. It's just very important or I would not ask.
Thank you so much to everyone who's already done so much for me and to those of you who may donate. You have my utmost my gratitude.
