We are reaching out to gather support for Arya, a courageous 10-year-old girl whose expanding mobility needs require additional resources to ensure she has safe and dignified access to vital experiences outside her home. Living with mixed spastic/dystronic quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, a Cortical visual impairment, Epilepsy, Scoliosis, and West Syndrome, Arya is non-verbal with severe global development delay and faces daily challenges that many of us take for granted. The funds raised will significantly enhance her ability to participate in school activities, engage with her community, and enjoy moments of normalcy and exploration that every child deserves.

Arya’s current medical journey necessitates the use of specialized equipment that allows her to thrive within her home and beyond. With essential tools like a customized wheelchair, a fully adjustable standing-frame, customized activity/comfy chair, and hospital bed designed with restraints manufactured specifically to her needs, Arya still finds everyday tasks daunting without a proper lift system. A lift system is crucial for continued safe mobility throughout her home and will allow free-movement of her medical equipment between the main and upper levels of her home. She will require extensive bathroom modification for her safety and comfort as she continues to grow. These modifications will include a lift from her bed to her washroom, a wheelchair entry shower, and wet room construction. By implementing these changes, we can create an environment that supports her ongoing growth and wellbeing, allowing for a more comfortable and secure living space. Arya has also outgrown her car seats and now requires a specialized mobility van equipped with a wheelchair ramp to ensure safe transportation to and from school, medical appointments, and connecting with friends and family outside of her home are vital for providing Arya the independence and dignity that reflects her vibrant spirit.

Living as an only child with a devoted single mother, who works full time, and supportive elderly grandparents, Arya’s family dynamic has faced significant challenges, including the tragic loss of her father in 2016. Despite enduring these hardships, Arya remains a beacon of joy and resilience, surrounded by love from her mother, uncle, extended family, chosen family, and her community. Each contribution to our fundraising efforts will not only bring Arya closer to the mobility she desperately needs but will also serve as a testament to the compassion and support that people can extend to one another during difficult times. Together, we can help elevate Arya’s quality of life, allowing her to embrace the experiences that will shape her into the remarkable individual she is destined to be.
