10 year diagnosed endometriosis and adenomyosis Warrior

My name is Sonia, and I am 36 years old. I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis in 2015 following emergency surgery for a ruptured cyst, which led to the loss of my right ovary and resulted in sepsis requiring intensive care.
Since then, I have undergone multiple surgical procedures, including laparoscopies in 2017, 2019, 2020 and again in 2024. Over time, my condition has significantly worsened. In 2020, my symptoms became more severe, and in 2021 I underwent a uterine embolisation after experiencing episodes of collapse due to extreme pain. Around this time, I was also diagnosed with adenomyosis.
Despite ongoing health challenges, I achieved a personal milestone in 2022 by qualifying as a Class 1 HGV driver, pushing through considerable pain to do so. However, my condition has continued to deteriorate. Following extensive investigations and surgery in 2024, I was found to have widespread complications, including severe adhesions, torsion and attachment of my remaining (left) ovary to the uterus, a tumour on my bowel, a large cyst on my gallbladder, and endometriosis affecting multiple organs including my liver, lungs, and kidneys. I have also developed a herniated disc linked to chronic inflammation, and my uterus is now more than double its normal size.
A hysterectomy was first recommended in 2021 after unsuccessful treatment, but due to delays, my condition has progressed to the point where the surgery is now far more complex. It will require a multidisciplinary team, including kidney and colorectal surgeons, alongside a full hysterectomy.
Six months ago, I was forced to leave my job due to repeated episodes of collapse caused by pain and discomfort. This has had a profound impact on my family life, with frequent hospital visits and an inability to participate in everyday activities.
After struggling to access timely care through the NHS, I sought a private consultation. I have been advised that the required surgery will cost between £25,000 and £30,000, with the possibility of additional procedures, including a stoma and further treatment for endometriosis. To date, I have already spent over £2,000 on initial investigations, and I am currently awaiting two MRI scans at a further cost of £1,700.

While I understand that pursuing private treatment may appear to be a choice, I feel it has become a necessity. The ongoing delays are causing further deterioration to my health and quality of life. This illness is incurable, and without timely intervention, my condition will continue to worsen.
This situation has left me feeling deeply discouraged, as though I am failing my family, friends, and career. However, I believe this is my final opportunity to regain some quality of life for both myself and my family.

If you have any questions or would like further information, I am more than willing to provide it.

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read my story.
