On Saturday 9th May, a group of friends and I will be running from Whickham School to Ponteland in memory of my mum, Kim, who passed away in April last year after a brave four-year battle with Alzheimer’s. The run will take place the weekend after what would have been her 66th birthday.
Mum taught at Whickham for around 25 years, beginning as a PE teacher, progressing to Head of Sport, and finishing as Assistant Headteacher before moving on to teach in Tanzania with her husband, Andy.
Mum had a real passion for helping young people through sport, which is why I am proud to be raising money for Barnability. They are a fantastic charity based in Ponteland that supports young people with learning disabilities through inclusive sport and fitness.
Any donation you are able to make would greatly help the charity continue the great work they do within the local community
