Hello my Instagram and Facebook friends. Today I went to buy fruit from a local vendor in Hayward (man is about 60+) on my way to class. When I went to pay him the $10 dollars, I gave him a $20 and told him to keep the change. In that moment, tears rolled down his face. He told me that for many days, the sales have been slow, and that yesterday he didn't sell any of his corn, duritos or fruits. I was incredibly sad to hear that this was his only source of income/job (he has no family/wife/kids from the bit of chatting I did). He also told me when he doesn't make money, he has nothing to eat, so I offered a sandwich I had and he happily took it. As my birthday is around the corner and many of you know I'm a minimalist, I literally don't ask for anything, except the things in life that bring real joy value to my life, which are NOT visible (love, attention, a hangout). Despite that, I always receive gifts from loved ones. Though I'm always incredibly grateful, I literally don't NEED anything, and nothing brings me joy like seeing someone in desperate need, experience a little bit of relief/joy. For those of you who know me at my core, you know how much I care about social justice. This is all I ask for, a little donation for this man. All the proceeds will go to him. I hope he's able to get by for at least a couple of weeks and that he can have a full belly for some days. God bless you!

Hoy fui a comprar fruta del frutero (un señor de 60 y pico). Cuando le pagué con un billete de $20, le dije que se quedara los $10 de cambio. En ese momento le salieron las lágrimas. Me dijo que en varios días el negocio iba muy lento, y que cuando no vende, no tiene ni para comer (de lo poco que pregunté, vive solo, no tiene hijos ni esposa). Cuando le ofrecí un sándwich que llevaba para la comida, muy humildemente lo aceptó. Como ya me conocen, mis seres queridos y amistades, saben que soy muy pesada con el tema de la justicia social, y que en verdad no pido nada para mi cumpleaños nunca. Aún así, siempre me compran regalitos, y detalles. Para mí, todo lo material lo agradezco y soy muy afortunada de tener lo que necesito, y la verdad no me trae más alergia a mi vida porque no lo baso en lo material. Lo único que quisiera es pedir si realmente quisieran hacerme un regalo, que donen algo a la causa de este señor mayor. Le daré todo lo que recaude. Espero que por unas semanas pueda comer bien y que sienta un poco de alivio en su día a día. Si quieres hacerme un regalo de cumpleaños con una donación, se lo agradecería muchísimo. Dios los bendiga!
