Hi, I'm Frank W. Kelly and I'm fundraising for my next feature film "10 Days in December".
This is a low budget film, set in Ireland at Christmas, and tells the story of Will and Lucy, two young people from different sides of the world, different upbringings, different belief systems, who find each other and despite everything driving them apart, decide to try.
Lucy is an American girl from Montana, raised a conservative Christain household and maintains a deep faith. Will is a lapsed catholic atheist artist, a broke filmmaker with an irreverence for the church and rules in general. They meet at a film festival, and after hitting it off, Will decides to invite Lucy to spend Christmas in Ireland. She says yes. We pick up the story right as she arrives.
Now, this isn't your typical Christmas romance movie about an American city girl falling in love with a handsome Irish rogue! This is a little more challenging and broaches deeper subject matter. There is the reality of long distance love, the ending of the film will be tinged with doubt and longing. We will delve deep into the faith side of the relationships, Will is atheist, Lucy of a devout Christain. It is forefront in the lives and minds, so let’s tackle it. But it is still a love story, and a story about two people from two different perspective, but not so different experiences as they will find out.
I first wrote the title “10 Days in December” in a notebook almost 18 years ago. It is a project that is close to my heart, a passion project. While it tells the story of Will and Lucy, two fictional characters, it is very much based on how my wife and I met and fell in love. We met at a film festival in the US, hit it off, became fast friends and within a couple of days I had asked this girl to come to Ireland for Christmas. She accepted. The rest is history.
We’ve taken that story, the romance of falling in love, Ireland at Christmas, and built a structure around it to create the heartfelt, heartwarming story of two young people who are looking for something, and find each other.
