1 Year to Graduation

Hi.  I am a 4-year college student studying for a Bachelor's in Business and Administration at Indiana Tech, my second major is Entrepreneurial Studies.  I have been working on a higher education degree ever since I'd completed my trade as an HVAC technician in 2015.  It's a career that most women would not take seriously.  But I love it and plan to stick with my goals.  Before venturing out into the field I decided to go back to college and get my degree in hopes of taking my trade to opening a my own consultancy firm for residential improvements.

I began this phase two part of my entrepreneurial venturing in 2015 when I applied to Liberty University Online.  At Liberty I focused mainly on brushing up on my mathematical and language literacy and had very few courses about business.  I voluntarily transferred to Kaplan University now Purdue University Global after my first year of studies at Liberty.

My tuition was paid for by State grant with Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans.  Previously I attended a Phlebotomy trade class and used a State grant in 2000.  And I also took a few college courses at Montclair University in Montclair, New Jersey in 1999.  I am 41 years old now.  I graduated high school in 1997.  The total amount of my college loans is $61,000, when all my aid was exhausted.

Why wait so long (1999 - 2015) sixteen years before returning to get a higher education degree.  Why, because I was diagnosed at the age of fifteen with a mental health condition.  It really came as a surprise.  I have been in and out of treatment groups and sobriety rooms (NA and AA) over the years from 1997-2012, but has maintained my love and drive for a higher education and to become a normal citizen again.

As a result of having two miracle babies after years of doctors telling me I would never be able to have children, it was then I made up my mind to set my heights for the stars.  I went to trade school, I have been renting my apartment for 5 years, I left the recreational binge alone.   And since August 2015 after graduating National Career Institute with Honorable Mention in HVAC trade, I have been dedicated to completing my degree completion goals as an online CPS student.

I became nominated for entrance into a prestigious social club for business women in 2016.  The National Association of Professional Women, NAPW run by film, media, and social icon Star Jones.  Now a million business women strong national and international the IAW (International Association of Women) as it has been renamed, has been a powerful shield in myself by helping me to grow in my studies along the way, too.

Last September 2019 at the start of my Junior year at Indiana Tech where I have been for 2 years on a $2,000 scholarship and networking experience awarded by the IAW for being elected into the 2016-2017 Women of the Year Circle, I received a message through my school's financial aid and business office that at that time I had used 513% of the 600% lifetime aid eligibility.  The 2020-2021 school year is my Senior year and I have exactly 8 more classes to finish, four in the Fall and four in the Spring.  So, in September I began applying for Private loans.  I applied to Discover, Sallie Mae, College Avenue and was approved for the loan request amount but I needed a co-signer.  Discover approved me 4 times for various amount from $13,000 for the entire year to $3000 in general.  Sallie Mae approved me for $11,000 and College Avenue approved me for $8,500 but I had no one in my family being a first generation and first person in my family to attend college and no friends, neighbors, or church religious associations who had the funds either.

I completed my classes for 2019-2020 in hopes that something or someone would come along.  I am on the Dean's list and my GPA has been a steady 4.0 since my "Kapa U" days.  I thought maybe I should just reach out and ask for help for my cause, because if someone was in my shoes I would do it for them.

My request is $6,443.00.

The breakdown is for Fall courses only.  I thought about it and said to myself if I really wanted help with finishing school, I would just ask for what I need and that is to begin and complete Fall classes.  In the Spring if I still need I could always try again.  Each course is $1,212 and there is four courses a quarter.  GoFundme generously requests a small fee of 2.9% and $0.30 for each donation.  In the event that I receive the total amount requested for four courses which is $4,848 than I expect the site administrator to deduct .329% from each dollar.  ($4,848 x .329 = $6,442.99)

My financial need to complete college through request from my GoFundMe campaign is $6,443.00.
