My Name is Alastair. I am the owner of Happiness Forgets and Original Sin, neighborhood cocktail bars based in East London.
The Coronavirus, as we are all aware is an extremely tough situation, every one is struggling, millions have been made unemployed and if they haven't been already, are about to potentially be locked down for the foreseeable future.
Under the advisement of the government we have now had to close our doors, we have no idea how long this will last. China is only just starting to come out of lock down after 8 weeks, so we have a long way to go.
The Government have pledged to pay 80% of staff wages which is amazing, but every little goes a long way in these uncertain times.
Every penny will go to the staff paychecks over the coming months, or how ever long this lasts.
But that's not it, we are not asking you to just give money. Any amount that you donate, can and will be redeemable against any bill in either bar, just show us your confirmation of donation email.
So in reality your just paying for your drinks a little early.
We are a small business that employees 13 professional bartenders, who have made this their career, its not a stop gap, while they study, or wait for a 'better/real job'. This is it.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and we will see you on the other side with a Martini in hand.
