The Abune Aregawi Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Arlington, Virginia was established in December 1995. For more than 20 years the church has been serving its congregants in the DMV area out of a rented space. Currently, the service is providing for 3 days a week at 4444 Arlington Blvd., Arlington Virginia.
What many may not be aware of is the amount of commitment that is required in order to hold service for 3 days each week. Volunteers are needed 3 times a week to set up to the church; move and setup carpets, chairs, appropriate window (curtains) cartons, garments for the clergy, drums other religious items, all of which have to be taken out of the storage at the beginning of each day. The storage is located offsite. Volunteers haul all of the above and move them to the church, set up for the day and disassemble and move them back at the end of each day. Additionally, the church space is now becoming too small to serves a growing community of congregants.
The above situation has now become untenable. Additionally, we are growing rapidly and wish to have a proper church that could serve the growing community, all 7 days of the week. We are looking to build or acquire our own church facility so that we may be able to serve the community without interfering.
With the blessing of our heavenly father and the contributions from the Orthodox Christian communities here in the DMV area and beyond, we envision the building of our own church to be a realistic possibility. The new church will follow the traditions of the Orthodox Tewahedo Church and will enable us to fulfill our mission of sharing the communities nearby and far.
We need to raise funds to build our own proper church. Please consider donating whatever amount you are able to do. We appreciate your donations.
አቡነ አረጋዊ የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ ቤተ-ክርስትያን እ.ኤ.አ በታህሳስ 1995 ዓም በአርሊንግተን ቨርጂንያ ተመስርቶ: በዋሽንግተን ዲሲ:ሜሪላንድ እና ቨርጂኒያ አካባቢ ለሚገኙ ምዕመናን (ህዝበ ክርስትያን) አገልግሎት ከ 20 ዓመት በላይ ሲሰጥ ቆይቷል:: በአሁንም ሰዓት አገግሎቱን በሳምንት ሶስት ቀን በተከራየበት በ 4444 Arlington Blvd, Arlington Virginia እየሰጠ ይገኛል::
አገልግሎታችንን በሳምንት ሦስት ቀን እየሠጠን ለመቆየት አብዛኞቻችን የማናስተውላቸው ብዙ ትጋትና መስዕዋትነት ተከፍሏል: ለምሳሌ በሳምንት ሦስት ቀን ሁል ጊዜ ምንጣፍ, ወንበር, ከበሮ, ሥዕለ አድኖ, መጋረጃና የተለያዮ ለመንፈሳዊ አገልግሎት የሚያስፈልጉ እቃዎችን ለማሠናዳት እንዲሁም አገልግሎት ከተፈፀመ በኃላ ሁሉንም እቃዎች ከቤተክርስትያኑ ውጪ ወደሚገኘው መጋዘን ለመክተት የበጎ ፈቃደኞች ያስፈልግጉን ነበር:: በተጨማሪም የቤተክርስትያናችን አገልግሎት እየሠፋ የምዕመናንም ቁጥር እየጨመረ በመሄዱ የቦታ ጥበት አጋጥሞናል እንዲሁም የምንገለገልበት ስፍራ ለፀበል አመቺ አለመሆኑ እንደ ዋና ችግር የሚጠቀስ ነው::
ከላይ በተጠቀሱት አስቸጋሪ ሁኔታዎች እንዲሁም በፍጥነት እያደገ እንደሚገኝ ሀይማኖታዊ ተቋም የራሳችን ቤተክርስትያን እንዲኖረን እንመኛለን:: በዚህም ምክንያት ለምዕመኖቻችን አገልግሎታችንን ያለምንም መስተጓጎል ለመስጠት የራሳችንን ቤተክርስትያን ለመስራት ወይም ለመግዛት እንቅስቃሴዎችን ጀምረናል::
እንደ እግዚአብሔር ፈቃድ እና እንደ መላው የኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ እምነት ተከታዮች አስተዋፅኦ የራሳችንን ቤተክርስትያን ለመገንባት ወይም ለመግዛት ያለን አላማ እውን እንደሚሆን እናምናለን:: አዲሱ ቤተክርስትያናችንም እንደ ቀድሞው በኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ ስርዓትና ህግ የሚጓዝ ሲሆን ሀይማኖታችንን ለመላው አለም ለማስተዋወቅ ያለንን አላማም የሚደግፍ ነው::
ስለዚህ የራሳችንን ቤተክርስትያን ለመስራትም ሆነ ለመግዛት የእናንተ ድጋፍ ያስፈልገናልና በምትችሉት መጠን ከበረከቱ እንድትሳተፉ በፃድቁ አቡነአረጋዊ ስም እንጠይቅዎታለን: ስለ አስተዋፅኦአችሁ ከልብ እናመሠግናለን::
