CHI SIAMO

Siamo Martina e Alex, due studenti di cinema all’ultimo anno di accademia. Ci stiamo specializzando rispettivamente in regia e direzione della fotografia. Purtroppo abbiamo una grande abilità nel complicarci la vita e a causa di ciò, invece di optare per un progetto di tesi semplice e sicuro, abbiamo deciso di buttarci nel genere preferito da Martina: l’Horror. In particolare in una delle sue declinazioni più sperimentali: l’analog-horror.

Crediamo che l’arte valida sia quella che osa, che si mette in gioco e che prova a portare nuovi punti di vista.

LOGLINE

Leonardo, un bambino timido ma curioso, si sente ignorato dai genitori da quando è nato il suo fratellino. Consumato dalla paranoia, cede alla tentazione del mostro nascosto in camera sua che lo spinge ad uccidere il neonato.

SINOSSI

Leonardo, un bambino timido e curioso, si sta preparando per andare a dormire, quando inizia ad avvertire la presenza di un’entità, dopo che il padre ha rimosso dei vecchi scatoloni da sopra al suo armadio. Come ogni sera aspetta che la madre vada a leggergli la storia della buonanotte, ma questa volta non arriva nessuno. Leonardo quindi va a cercarla, quando la trova però è impegnata ad allattare Teo, il fratellino nato da poco. Il bambino torna in camera sua aspettando, ma si addormenta con il libro tra le mani. Durante la notte il forte pianto del neonato sveglia Leonardo il quale infastidito cerca un modo per farlo smettere. Leonardo così durante il silenzio della notte, con l’aiuto del mostro che vive sul suo armadio, prova a zittire il fratellino. Dopo vari tentativi,una strigliata dei suoi genitori e un litigio con il mostro Leonardo trova una soluzione.

PERCHÉ RACCONTIAMO QUESTA STORIA /INTENZIONI DI REGIA

Questo film nasce da un ricordo traumatico che risale all’infanzia della regista legato al rapporto con suo fratello.

Racconta di quel senso di abbandono che si prova quando ci si sente soli e non si trova nessuno a cui aggrapparsi. L'obiettivo principale è far sentire lo spettatore in difficoltà, come il nostro protagonista, ma con lo scopo di comprendere fino in fondo cosa significhi sentirsi isolati, a tal punto da diventare gelosi e ossessionati da chi invece riceve queste attenzioni tanto desiderate. A questa storia ha deciso di unire la sua passione per il genere horror, con l’intenzione di rendere ancora più angosciante questo stato d’animo.

PERCHÉ IL GENERE HORROR

Una storia si può raccontare in diversi modi, ma abbiamo scelto di raccontarla nel modo che ci rappresenta di più attraverso un genere cinematografico che ci affascina. L'horror offre una forma di evasione dalla realtà quotidiana, permettendo agli spettatori di immergersi in mondi e situazioni completamente diversi dai loro. “Guardare un film horror mi aiutava a fuggire alla noia quotidiana della mia adolescenza, attraverso le forti emozioni, negative e positive, che questo genere suscita”.

Il film verrà realizzato utilizzando lo stile dell'analog horror, un sottogenere nato su internet. Questo genere sfrutta le teorie secondo cui l'evocazione dei ricordi d'infanzia e il danneggiamento delle immagini possano far percepire un senso di pericolo allo spettatore, come se fosse qualcosa di minaccioso nei suoi confronti.

La bassa qualità dell'immagine nasconde i pericoli che il protagonista dovrà affrontare, con l'obiettivo di generare un'angoscia crescente nello spettatore durante la visione.

PERCHÉ ABBIAMO BISOGNO DEL TUO AIUTO

Quando si parla di cortometraggio, spesso si pensa a un cinema di serie B, ma questo non è il nostro caso. Il progetto si sta sviluppando e sta crescendo pian piano per diventare un prodotto professionale a tutto tondo.

Nonostante le grandi ambizioni bisogna sempre confrontarsi con la realtà: il cinema è una macchina molto costosa, ma siamo qui per provare che anche un cortometraggio indipendente e autofinanziato può vedere la luce.

WHO WE ARE

We are Martina and Alex, two film students specializing in directing and cinematography, respectively. Unfortunately, we don’t like to do things in the easy way, and because of this, instead of opting for a simple and safe thesis project, we've decided to dive into Martina's favorite genre: Horror. Specifically, one of its most experimental subgenres: analog horror. We believe that true art is the kind that dares, that takes risks, and that tries to bring new perspectives.

LOGLINE

Leonardo, a shy but curious child, feels ignored by his parents ever since his baby brother was born. Consumed by paranoia, he succumbs to the temptation of the monster hiding in his room, who urges him to kill the newborn.

SYNOPSIS

Leonardo, a shy and curious boy, is getting ready for bed when he starts sensing the presence of an entity after his father removed some old boxes from the top of his wardrobe. As every night, he waits for his mother to come and read him a bedtime story, but this time no one shows up. Leonardo goes looking for her, but when he finds her, she is busy breastfeeding Teo, his newly born brother. The boy returns to his room, waiting, but falls asleep with the book in his hands. During the night, the loud crying of the newborn wakes Leonardo, who, annoyed, looks for a way to make it stop. In the silence of the night, with the help of the monster living on top of his wardrobe, Leonardo tries to stop his brother. After several attempts, a scolding from his parents, and a confrontation with the monster, Leonardo finds a solution.

WHY WE ARE TELLING THIS STORY / DIRECTOR'S INTENTIONS

This film stems from a traumatic memory from the director's childhood related to her relationship with her brother. It speaks of abandonment, feeling alone and having no one to cling to. The main goal is to make the viewer feel uncomfortable, just like our protagonist, with the aim of fully understanding what it means to feel isolated to the point of becoming jealous and obsessed with those who receive the much-desired attention. To this story, the director has decided to add her passion for the horror genre, with the intention of making this state of mind even more distressing.

WHY HORROR

A story can be told in many ways, but we have chosen to tell it in the way that represents us the most, through a cinematic genre that fascinates us. Horror offers an escape from everyday reality, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in worlds and situations completely different from their own. “Watching a horror film helped me escape the daily boredom of my adolescence through the strong emotions, both negative and positive, that this genre evokes.” The film will be made using the style of analog horror, a subgenre born on the internet. This genre exploits theories that suggest that evoking childhood memories and distorting images that can make viewers perceive a sense of danger, as if something threatening were directed at them. The low quality of the image hides the dangers the protagonist must face, with the goal of generating growing anxiety in the viewer during the film.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

When it comes to short films, people often think of B-movies, but that's not the case here. The project is developing and gradually growing into a fully professional product. Despite our great ambitions, we must always face reality: cinema is a very expensive machine, but we are here to prove that even an independent and self-financed short film can see the light of day.
