I'm honestly in awe needing to do this, but Covid isn't done rearing its ugly head. Barely a month into opening (2020), CT went into lockdown. That means no business allowed for the Raven's Nest [no income] . Players and friends alike took their campaigns to the internet in order to continue and try to maintain a sense of normalcy. Staged re-openings were begun in June, but obviously hobby stores were on the tail end of that list. With necessary precautions, the Nest was able to sustain until their 1 year anniversary in March 2021. Fast forward to January 2022, with a raging year of pandemic, ever changing mandates, and Covid continuing to mutate, people are just not putting their money back into local business. Whether due to their own financial stressors, or general lack of social gatherings, we are in great peril of losing our favorite shop. Our safe place. Our shelter from the storm that is a global pandemic. Our home.
Within minutes of meeting Eric and Christina, you can tell what amazing, genuine people they are, and we cannot thank them enough for bringing all of us together during these very dark times. They refuse to ask for help, so I am asking on their behalf, with or without their consent. I've spent too much of the last [almost] 2 years grieving everything that has been had to be put on hold, everyone I've [we all] lost, and I'm unwilling to lose this shop too. The Raven's Nest is more than just a business, more than just a hobby store, and more than just the DeVeau's livelihood. The Raven's Nest is our family, and I'm going to do everything in my power to stop this pandemic from taking one of the only outlets I have left.
If you are unable to donate to keep the Raven's Nest open, please share this fundraiser. I cannot stress it enough how important this shop is to so many people in the [gaming] community.
