Dear Pleasure Dome Theatre friends and supporters,
I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and well. Global events and the Covid-19 pandemic have quite overtaken our industry and even our quiet corner of the West Country. At Pleasure Dome we pride ourselves on being optimists, it's the only way to be to even imagine performing in an environment as wild and unruly as Exmoor's glorious Valley of Rocks. But we did imagine it, and you who came to join us on that spectacular cliff edge to enjoy a show imagined it as well and you bought into the magic and madness of what we do. With a world-class team of creatives, performers and brave volunteers we have brought stories to life for the last four years so it is with a heavy heart that we must cancel our 2020 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. We have wanted to stage this show since the genesis of the company and to not do it justice, would turn this comedy into a pastoral tragedy.
We really hope to stage a show this Christmas and continue with our planned season of events for 2021 including moving The Dream to next year but we will follow the precautions and advice of the medical community to ensure the safety and well-being of our team and audience. And despite having no qualms inviting you to sit on a blustery moor for two hours trust us that this is our first priority.
Thank you so much to everyone who has been a part of the Pleasure Dome story so far, especially our exceptional teams and casts. We hope to see you again and to create more magic together.
