Our Dad, Diagnosed with rare form of Leukemia
Donation protected
On January 11th 2022, our dad went for a blood test and upon arriving home, was immediately rushed to the hospital. The next day our dad started chemotherapy and wouldn’t come home for months.
Our dad Arnold, 50, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia FLT3 mutation (AML). This is an aggressive type of blood cancer that grows very quickly and starts from young white blood cells.

Our dad has completed his third round of chemo, a third round of immense stress on his body, both physically and mentally. As of now, our dad has an infection called staphylococcus aureus all over his body that has forced him to spend his 50th birthday stuck in the hospital, unable to see his children and his family. The infection that lacks research, has made my dad devastated yet again to spend another 3-6 weeks in the hospital. Another 3-6 weeks away from us.
On the 8th June, we have an appointment in another hospital, hours away to discuss a bone marrow transplant. Due to the rarity of our dad's Leukemia type, doctors have grouped together around the globe to discuss his case, and the difficulty in approaching such a rare form.
My dad is a proud father of two - Dominic (22) and Adam (10) and has our strong mama, Jurgita, by his side. We look up to our dad. He is the protector of our family, and now we will protect him. Anyone that knows him, knows that our dad hates to sit down and would always be working on something. We would be watching a tv show, whilst he is watching a tutorial on how to diy every part of our house on his own or outside building his own greenhouse, or installing his own tech throughout the house - anywhere but sitting down until time for bed. But on 11th January 2022, he no longer felt strong, he no longer was home, he no longer was near us and we are no longer able to give him a hug.
Fathers day is coming up, and my brother goes to school prepping for a fathers day show he knows our dad is too ill to come to.
This is why we ask our community, friends and family near and far if you have any penny spare, large or small that can help, please help the financial burden that is above our household. And please keep our dad in your prayers, pray for his healing and recovery. We want the best for our dad.
The funds raised would help to keep our family finances afloat by keeping up with medical bills, treatments and additional necessities for his well-being.
We will continue to update and share his journey throughout this difficult time. Thank you for reading and would be immensely grateful if you could share. Kind regards, Jurgita, Dominic & Adam
