Every day, millions of children suffer from illnesses that could have been prevented through basic hygiene knowledge and training. Millions pick up a cigarette not knowing the harm it can do, and even more suffer from nutritional deficiencies and oral health deterioration in part due to a diet that is incomplete.
Disparities are prevalent worldwide, with the most important being that of knowledge. Many simply do not know, and they truly suffer for it.
This has to stop.
We, at OneLebanon Inc , strive to improve lives through an in-school oral and general health promotion curriculum that provides opportunities for knowledge and health.
Our in-school health education curriculum includes both educational and action components. Through oral and general health education and promotion, the OneLebanon Health Initiative serves as a first step towards the globalization of upstream health promotion to children - allowing for the alleviation of disease and disparity.
As the name suggests, we taking steps towards a better future in Lebanon - a country where disparities are visible from one block to the next. A country where despite the presence of 1:1006 dentists/person and 248:100,000 physicians/population (numbers comparable to many 1st world countries), a deep and prevalent lack of access presents.
The OneLebanon Health Initiative is unique in that it addresses disease at its source. We have been selected by the Clinton Foundation to attend the Clinton Global Initiative University in our pursuit of equitable health for children worldwide.
Our team of collaborators has grown to include numerous volunteers including public health experts, dentists and dental students, nutritionists, physicians, and medical students, lawyers, teachers, and many other experts that all have one thing in common: We want a brighter future.
Today, we ask you to step forward: support and donate - Children need you.
Even though all positions currently are being held by volunteers and are acquiring many supplies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and other oral health tools) donated through corporate sponsors, we must fundraise drastically to allow for nationwide scaling of the program. We anticipate needing administrative controls, community health workers, awareness campaigning, and continued sustainable growth of our preventative care team.
As our vision is realized, we will employ full-time health education coaches to extend the OneLebanon oral health education model, utilize public health experts and entrepreneurs for consistent monitoring and evaluation of the program, and deliver equitable care worldwide.
