Ceena's Road To Recovery

Donation protected
#CeenasRoadToRecovery .  It first started two weeks ago. Ceena was getting fevers on and off which were treated with panadol to help bring her temperature/fever down, mum and dad did everything they could to make her as comfortable as possible. She  was taken to the GP and the GP had advised to bring her back the next day if she still had a fever, Next day came and sure enough she still had a fever, the doctor said the symptoms she was having may be that of "slapped cheek" But to come back the next day if she STILL had the fever. 3rd day in a row, now by this third day, one side of ceenas body started to swell (legs & hands) aswell as still having the fever,  which caused for even more concern. The GP sent them in a rush over to Westmead Childrens hospital in sydney, to emergency. Where ceena had to undergo a series of tests. Testing upon testing, hours on end. During that time she started to get agitated quite often due to the effects the symptoms were having on her little body. She was getting worse. She was on a drip with fluids and antibiotics pumping through.  Blood tests showed she needed close monitoring and she was moved to the ward.  Blood tests had also showed that she had low levels of ammonia , as the hours and minutes passed, her ammonia levels were getting higher, her whole face started to puff up as did the other side of her arms hands and legs, and  around her eyes started to swell. More test and more close monitoring overnight. The next day she was sent to ICU where she was heavily sedated and had maximum monitoring, she had to be put on a dialysis machine because her liver was only functioning at 20%. A few doctors had a meeting with ceenas mum and dad, they were told the chances of ceena needing a liver transplant are very high. Ceena was put on the list both in australia and nz, she was priority as she was the sickest child in australia. The doctors had said that there were two options, 1. A donor who had died BUT that person had to have passed by a brain related death. 2. A live donor. Our sister who is also in sydney had volunteered and wanted to donate,  she along with others underwent tests to see if her blood type was compatible  and if her liver was healthy all the tests were coming back a perfect match, doctors were adimant that they didnt need to look any further for a donor as all the signs were pointing to our sister but they had to wait for all the tests to be done to confirm, which is why we were urged to slow down the process of asking for donors, my brother and his mrs aswell as the family are really thankfull and gratefull to all on the Kiwis in Aussie facebook page who volunteered, yous will never be forgotten. So from the bottom of our hearts thankyou. As our sister was going through the last of the tests at the RPA hospital in sydney, ceena who is in westmead ICU on a dialysis machine , the only thing keeping her here with us. Then they got the call, everything was 100% what they needed, within the hour our sister was on the operating table giving our niece the most precious gift of all.  As soon as a piece was taken off it was rushed to westmead hospital where ceena had already been prepped for surgery and then the time came where she went in to get her liver.  She has been in surgery for a 4 1/2 -5 hrs, time is 11:23pm. She still has 7 hours to go. Once the liver is put in ceenas body, her body has to accept it so we still need prayers. Our saving grace is our sister, Lacoya Marie Ngaronga Finau who also has two young kids of her own and an awesome loving husband. She is recovering well. We love you our sis, always have always will, no matter what ♡♡♡♡ We will keep everyone updated. We as a family are doing the best we can to put our funds together to help pay for her medical bill, anything is appreciated and will be forever grateful to help us help ceena on her road to recovery. Thankyou all. All proceeds go directly through to  ceena's  parents account.  Please share ceenas story, not only for support but to raise awareness about what it is and what it can do to our little ones.
