Race to Alaska for the Homeless
$8,319 of $15,000 goal
After 15 years of living on the streets, Steve Rhoades, once a Marine Veteran, decided to get sober and get his life back together with the help of the Millionair Club located in downtown Seattle. Now he spends his time raising money for charitable groups like the Millionaires Club and also spends his days giving back to the community.
On June 14th, Steve will embark on his biggest charitable cause yet in hopes of becoming the first person to ever 'prone' paddle board from Port Townsend, Washington to Ketchikan, Alaska. Once reaching Ketchikan, Steve won't stop there. He'll be adventuring on his bicycle all the way to Butte, Montana. He may even go as far as Castlerock, Nebraska in hopes of raising money for the Millionair Club as well as raising awareness for our homeless Veterans. Steve needs your help raising money for his cause. By raising 15,000 you're helping Steve gather the necessary equipment to safely attempt this approximately 5,500-milefeat. As some of you may have experienced, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans. In my launch in the race to Alaska, I and my paddle board suffered injuries. Consequently, I had to turn back. You can learn more in this video taken at the event: https://www.facebook.com/racetoalaska/videos/1513581818769484/ or at www.ExtremeSobriety.org (see post, Change of Plans.)
So what does this mean? Simply that we have a change in plans. Our mission at ExtremeSobriety continues unabated. While I'm planning and training for another prone-paddling event, we are proceeding with our plans for a soup program and other opportunities to assist the homeless veterans and homeless mentally ill -- which has always been our objective in the race to Alaska.
Your support definitely helped us to raise a massive amount of awareness of what we're doing. We'd be honored to count on your continued support and thoughts.
Since we had to scrub the race to Alaska, which was the objective of the Go Fund Me campaign, we will be happy to refund your donation. Just let us know by sending an email to Extremesobriety@gmail.com.
Thank you, again.
