Up date: new appointments coming up 4/25/18 - 4/27/18 with more in the near future. Along with waiting for approval for Boston Children'shospital Devin needs your help we be going back to NYC . Know we are fighting again for Boston Children's hospital. Devin just had another surgery 1/22/18 for his Achilles tendons and will have another bladder procedure on 02/12/18 please take a moment to read his story. His doctors are concerned and want to find the missing puzzle pieces. We need to find answers most kids like him have a name for their illness Devin does not it's getting harder and harder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Devin is a vibrant, bright, active full of life 13-year-old young man who has been undergoing extensive medical treatments for most of his life, including now 4 on both his feet to correct his Achilles-Tendinitis, a bladder augmentation, 4bladder revision of the cath site and weekly trips to the local hospitals to have his bowels emptied. Devin has lost function of his bladder making the normal process of urination impossible for him there for he a cauterization site placed in his navel however this sight is failing him which now he will start the long and tedious process of medical treatments. Thru all of this Devin has remained strong, positive with ‘don’t feel bad for me” attitude and smile that infectious to everyone he meets. However now Devin is required to undergo more extensive testing as the doctors continue to search for answers and a treatment. What we have been told is that he has a neurogenic bladder and bowel condition not caused by typical means, as the genetics test in addition to all other tests had shown so far. Based on our meeting with both local and NYC urologists they are lost for definitive answers and courses of treatment options without a firm cause. We will be making several trips between Syracuse and NYC over the next few months for testing. appointment will be when we receive the first of what could be several dates for possible surgeries to including to moving his catheterization site, which is very invasive including reconstruction of the bladder, with hospital admissions extending a week or more at times. The biggest concern at this point is if left undiagnosed and without proper treatment this condition could lead to further and possibly extremely dangerous condations including kidney failure, lose of full functioning bowels and bladder, causing possibly permanent need for both a urinary stoma and ileostomy bag to terminal bladder cancer. We at TEAM DEVIN will not give up till we find the answers and the best course treatment for him and bring more awareness to a condition that affects 2% of children we have this Go fund me page set up to help him “DEVIN’S FUND” to help him with the out of pocket expenses of travel, hotel stays and meals and medical treatments not covered by his ins.
