KIDNEY FOR TIM
Donation protected
My name is Debbi and my son Tim is dying from a rare kidney disease called Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis or FSGS is a disease in which scar tissue develops on the parts of the kidneys that filter waste from the blood (glomeruli). FSGS is a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure, for which the only treatment options are dialysis or kidney transplant.
My son, Timothy is dying. Wow, that's the first time in the past year & a half of his battle that I've actually said those words. I always say he is sick. Now I know why I have never said those words, because saying he is sick makes me feel more in control of the outcome. After all, children are supposed to outlive their parents, aren't they?
Everything in Tim's simple little life was good, except what he thought were occasional flare ups of gout. He decided to get an official diagnosis and start medications for the flare ups. One hour and one blood test later, life as he knew it changed forever. His doctor had called him to come back to the office immediately, and gave him the diagnosis of stage 4 kidney disease. Not in one, but in both kidneys. He never had any symptoms, Timothy told the doctor they must have given him someone else's results. The diagnosis was in fact, for Timothy. Immediately he was sent to a kidney specialist. Test & biopsies completed, the conclusion was his kidneys were functioning at 18%.
Recently, test's have shown that both kidney's have dropped to a functioning rate of 12%. Doctors say it is now time for making transplant preparations. He will be added to the transplant list, screen for donors, and deal with insurance.
I have been praying for a positive outcome constantly since Timothy's diagnosis. Now I'm coming forth, asking for prayers and donations from all of you. You've read my son's story, please help save my son's life. The average cost of a kidney transplant is $334,300.00. Our family needs to pay $60,000.00 BEFORE he can have this transplant. This is the cost for pre-transplant care, procurement of donor kidney, hospital transplant admission, surgeons and staff, post-transplant care and immune suppressants.
$60,000.00. That's the cost of his life; he's a son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. A man who loves to spend time with his two daughters; fishing and painting their fingernails. Timothy is a man that makes his family and friends a priority, now he is ours.
Our family and friends have held a fundraiser, and we have been amazed at the outpouring of love and support in our hometown community of Valdosta, GA. We have a campaign going through not only GO FUND ME but also through FACEBOOK so far we have been blessed with donations totaling $23,000.00 but we still lack $37,000.00 of what is required.
Everyone knows someone who knows someone else. I'm pleading with each of you to not only donate but share his story with people you know and ask them to share with people they know. We need a chain reaction to raise the funds. We need love, we need prayers, we need you.
Please.
I will be updating our son's page as each step is taken in regards to the transplant process and Timothy's health, I have also set up a website www.kidneyfortim.com visit the website you can learn more about the life that you can help save,Thank you for getting to know our son, our family. God bless.
If this was your son, husband, father, friend wouldn't you do everything in your power to make sure they had a second chance at life? We need your help please consider helping our son to live.
