Please Help Christian Come Home!

Christian Daniel was a loving man. A source of warmth and strength for his family, whose everyday kind words and generous deeds made him a beloved figure in his community, Christian had a rare and miraculous soul recognized by all who knew him, even briefly. Yet tragically, on August 13, 2018, Christian was murdered by unknown assailants while visiting his mother in Haiti. Now his family in Texas is not only faced with the loss of an adored husband and father, but are also under the burden of ensuring his remains are returned to the United States for burial. They need our help.

We are asking you to donate whatever you can to help Christian’s family with repatriation, burial and other costs brought about by the loss of the family’s income in the wake of his death. Christian’s family is going through a nightmare that no family should experience. Having the small comfort of Christian returning home will provide hope where currently none exists. You can be that hope with your support of this campaign. We are also asking everyone to share this GoFundMe with their friends and social media to let the world know that the loss of such a generous and admirable man is one we all share.

Due to modern controversies concerning immigration into the United States, it may be important to note that Christian embodied every desirable quality ever asked of an immigrant to this country. As a naturalized U.S. citizen, Christian believed in paying his dues and living in harmony with the law. He considered the freedoms granted to him by the U.S. Constitution to be invaluable, and personified the ethos of hard work, piety and moral responsibility often championed by American leaders. He was the uncommon individual who never complained about taxes nor anything else required of him by the United States government. He was almost Jeffersonian in his belief that all people should be guaranteed kindness, compassion and love in their lives, and if nothing else he would be that guarantee.

Christian was and will continue to be the single greatest humanitarian found in the lives of those who knew him. His mere presence made others around him uplifted in spirit, joyful in conversation and finding wide smiles suddenly emerging across their faces with no effort whatsoever. This effect likely stemmed from Christian’s own demeanor, pleasant as a glowing sunset over the ocean and equally as graceful, its qualities imbuing his whole personality with an inspirational aura that remains unforgettable to anyone who has met him. But Christian’s amiable, soft-spoken nature understated his truly heroic sense of altruism. He was commonly known to stop by his neighbors’ homes when they were having plumbing issues or appliances breaking down, often still wearing his work uniform as he prioritized helping others over finishing his commute home from a full workday. A patient and open minded listener, Christian was trusted by many in his community as a compassionate mentor for young people and a healing source of wisdom for all troubled minds. He attended every event held by friends and family, sacrificing time if need be to make sure that, even if no one else came, he would be there to support you. Yet his habit of helping others never led Christian to ask for any compensation or even develop an ego based on his sterling reputation, he merely saw it as his duty to promote the welfare of others through his everyday interactions with them.

Full Info: My name is Vanessa Bissereth and I am from the same North Austin neighborhood as Christian. Christian was my uncle and I started this campaign to help his immediate family pay for his funeral costs. The money raised from this GoFundMe will all go to cover the costs of his burial in Texas.
